Lorcaserin is a weight loss medication, and it is a 5-HT2C receptor agonist. Addyi is a 5-HT2C antagonist, which means it has the opposite effect. This suggests that serotonin is not responsible for the weight loss. Although the mechanism of action is unclear, the weight loss effects are not a placebo.
